Well, this was not a very traditional Thanksgiving this year. But, despite it all, it still felt wonderful. We had a very awesome day filled with lots of laughter. It helped to have the visitors we did. Kayla didn't sleep at all today which was a first! We were up, walking around, and even kicked the soccer ball in physical therapy for a while. Kayla got a special visit from Maggie & Audrey today. She was SO excited to teach them some math on the computer. I mean, priorities... right??? Notice how the girls are intently listening to every word. I love how in these pictures, you would never know what this little girl had just gone through only 7 days prior.
Kayla and Mark! (Kayla's very first soccer coach and close family friend) So great to see you again!!!!
We also got a surprise visit from Emily! Emily was one of Kayla's awesome PICU
nurses. She came before her shift started to say hello. How sweet is
that? We had a great chat and I hope we will stay connected for a long
long time. *just not in a PICU visit please! Emily, thank you for tonight.... You ROCK!!!!!
Donna and her amazing team were home all day researching for me. I will
fill you in later, but I can just say that wonderful things are to come.
I am hopeful and FULL of faith.
Denny, I love you and I can't wait to
just sit on our couch and take deep breaths and have long love-filled
hugs while we process the past 14 days.
Tomorrow (sometime hopefully before noon!), we should get our
discharge orders to go home! We need this time to regroup and just
breathe. It is so clear that she has been ready for days now to be in
her own environment. I can't wait for the updates to come. WE LOVE YOU
ALL. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends. Those we know and those
who are with us in this journey that we haven't even met. Thank you!
Deep breaths and long hugs at home...so glad they'll be happening for you guys SOON!

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy Kayla gets to come home today. She does look so beautiful, does not look like what she has been thru this past week. Love you, Susie
ReplyDeleteWe're so happy that we got to share this special Thanksgiving with you too Kayla Rose! Nicole & I delivered Thanksgiving food directly to you & Denny (Annie was on her way home and took home the Fudge!). Sorry you didn't especially "like" the food with gravy and all, but you did like the rolls and a teeny bit of pumpkin pie! We got there shortly after 7:00 p.m., and you were tired from the long day of visitors and their love, so we didn't take pictures. But, you are FOREVER in our HEARTS and constantly in our thoughts every single day! All of you..........Denny, Annie, Kayla & Anthony.....Remember, we are always with you every single moment of this Journey, feel so VERY BLESSED to have you in our lives, and also feel PRIVILEGED to call you Family. Can't wait to visit you at home and share in the healing............love you infinity & beyond!!!
